So You Want To Get To Know Us…
(of course you do, we are pretty awesome!)
Oprah Winfrey is boss. She is an entrepreneur, broadcasting pioneer, actor, network owner, magazine owner, internet innovator and philanthropist. She is highly inspirational, super influential, smart and spiritual. She motivates to live purposefully and leads by example. So yeah, I’m BIG fan and think she’s a great role model! She stimulates that it is okay to dream big and expect great things in life.
“Let’s go to the movies, let’s go see the stars!”
Sitting in the dark being entertained is the ultimate escape.
My Fly Violet and me are inseparable. When I take her to work, she carries my laptop, and when I take her on a weekend trip, she takes care of my clothes. When I take her into town, she guards my purse. And most importantly… Wherever I take her, she always looks her best!
Mine is undoubtedly found on Pinterest. Which Pinner is a must to follow? I’ve stumbled across the blog designlovefest on Pinterest and have been inspired ever since. Bri Emery, the blog’s founder and editor, sparks my creativity and provides me with an endless portion of inspiration.
Pop songs – preferably in karaoke including a dance tutorial so I can pretend I’m Miley, Katie or Ke$ha on stage. I’ve signed up on a great number of websites hoping for tickets for the MTV Awards, stood with a bunch of 14 year old screaming girls in front of the Amstel Hotel waiting for the Kings and Queens of Pop to arrive, know all pop song lyrics by heart and enjoy a dancing class once every week. Maybe I’ve never made it to the stage, but still – that doesn’t mean I can’t pretend!
Nature! Running, walking, cycling in the green zones… It clears my head and gives me loads of positive energy and new ideas. It makes me feel like anything is possible!
Listening to Dr. Dre, Snoop Dog, Gyptian… and then with a drink or two I feel like one hot piece of ass ;).
Although I am inspired by many things such as long (multiday) walks in nature, travel and books, I find the best inspiration in the people around me. The ones that don’t see problems but solutions, who approach the world and people around them with positivity and kindness and who are not afraid to follow their heart (especially when that means taking a risk now and then). I am a true believer of the theory that you will – in the end – be an average of the people you surround yourself with.
Not sure if this qualifies as a guilty pleasure but I absolutely love flea markets. Whenever I visit a city or village, the first thing I do is check out if any flea markets are planned. If they are known to be good, I have no trouble setting an alarm and being one of the (very) early birds.
It was love at first sight between me and the Audrey. This baby is small enough to accompany me on evenings out, it’s a compliment magnet and holds my essentials surprisingly well!
I get inspired by markets. All over the world, from a vintage market in Saint- Tropez to a local market in China. I love the smell and looks of all the herbs, flowers, food and people.
No one ever understands it but whenever I start reading a new book I prefer to read the end before getting to far in the book. I just can’t stand the tension writers create in their books so I have to know how it ends early on if I want to stay sane!
The Jazzy Jess in Eco Dark Brown makes my heart beat faster. It is big enough for my 13” laptop and a lot of other stuff. She matches with all of my outfits and makes me feel great every day again.
It might sound a bit cheesy but I really take inspiration from the world around me; the places I go, the people I meet, the magazines I read. It brings me creativity and gives a me lot of new ideas.
I think the most guilty one is my obsession with cooking shows. In my free time I love to watch for example the whole season of MasterChef. I really like it when people have a passion for food and make extraordinary things with just a few ingredients. It might be a bit weird but I can’t stop watching it.
